Recently my 6-year old daughter and I were doing a Bible study together that introduced the topic of purity. We had some pretty entertaining discussions, and I realized that it’s much harder to explain ideas like God’s sovereignty and purity to a 6-year old than it is to explain them to another adult. I never quite knew what would come out of her mouth at our next 8:00 pm meeting. But one night, as we talked about the beauty of God’s sovereignty in planning our futures, and how if God calls her to be married, He has already picked out just the right husband for her, Annalyse looked at me with concerned eyes. “Mom, what if I don’t like the person God wants me to marry?” And with even more concern, “what if the man He wants me to marry isn’t …you know…very good-looking?”

Getting a watch battery replaced was the one errand I had for the day. On a cold, snowy morning, I reasoned that a short visit to the mall would be a good use of time. I could get my watch battery fixed and take my energetic toddler to the play area for a bit. We live about five minutes from one of the nicest malls in our area. Despite our closeness in proximity, I try to avoid it as much as possible.
