Stacy Reaoch | Category: Marriage My life changed radically as a sophomore in college. It was 1997, I was a brand-new Christian, and I was dealing with a broken heart after my Christian boyfriend of two years broke up with me at the start of the school year. Initially we tried being "just friends," which sent me on an emotional roller coaster every time I received a call or email from him. Maybe he wanted to get back together? He must really be missing me if he is reaching out to me again.

Laura Miller | Category: Children's Sunday School Have you ever misplaced something and turned your house upside down looking for it? or your desk, or your car?
I have. Despite my efforts to employ some sort of system to remind me where I’ve filed or stored things, it happens so often that choosing which story to tell is almost as overwhelming as having to put my hands on a mislaid piece of paper. But perhaps most frustrating of all for me are the times (note the use of the plural there) when I’ve hidden away gifts to give and can’t remember where my hiding places are -- or worse forget altogether that there are gifts squirreled away in clever spots out of sight just waiting to make somebody’s day. But what if there was a gift that had been hidden away that was so valuable you would do anything to possess it? And what if you had the opportunity to purchase it and in doing so make such great gain that the cost to you wouldn’t even be worthy counting against the great value of the treasure? Laura Miller | Category: Children's Sunday School Summer is for vacations -- vacations from work (a week or two here or there), vacations from school (a couple or few months' reprieve from the classroom), and, for the teachers and students of Three Rivers Grace Church, the month of July brings a vacation from Sunday School.
What better time, then, to reflect on our goals, and on the mission and purpose, of our Sunday School instruction time? Get Tom Schreiner's book 40 Questions About Christians and Biblical Law for free from Logos this month.

Here is an fantastic interview with Rosaria Butterfield on the understanding the relationship between homosexuality and the Christian faith. You can also read an excellent review, by Laura Miller, of Rosaria's book, The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert, here on our blog.
Category: Culture The following is a good admonition from Russell Moore on the recent re-defining of marriage by the Supreme Court:
"The witness to marriage will be, like the pro-life movement, a long-term strategy that is multi-pronged. This is no time for fear or outrage or politicizing. We see that we are strangers and exiles in American culture. We are on the wrong side of history, just like we started. We should have been all along. Let’s seek the kingdom. Let’s stand with the gospel. Let’s fear our God. But let’s not fear our mission field." Read his entire article, here, entitled "Why the church should neither cave nor panic about the decision on gay marriage" in the Washington Post. Laura Miller | Category: Children's Sunday School, Theology for Life Recently, my husband and I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things. I left him -- and my raincoat -- in the car, entertaining only the briefest of thoughts that maybe I’d need that coat. “The weather has been so finicky lately, I should bring it, but I don’t want to go back now.”
As I checked out at the register, I heard the distinct sound of heavy rain on the store’s roof. Sigh. Well, at least I could summon my husband to pick me up at the door. I waited outside with my bags and chatted it up with an older woman who came out and stood next to me while her granddaughter tried to get the attention of their ride. Of course, the topic was the weather. |
