Last month, Three Rivers Grace had the privilege of hosting a Free-Sale event at our church facility. [You can check out pictures here.] Basically, it was a yard-sale type event, except everything was free. We invited the community out to both give away things and also take what they needed. The turnout was overwhelmingly tremendous!
Some might be wondering though, "Is it enough to just serve people's physical needs?" Or, "Do you think that the church's example of love and mercy is what will win people over?" Or, "Isn't our focus supposed to primarily be on proclaiming and telling others the good news?"

It has been a privilege to be part of a new ministry venture in Pittsburgh. The Baptist Institute of Pittsburgh will offer seminary-level classes that can be taken for credit and transferred to the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Other seminaries may also accept these credits. For individuals who are not pursuing a seminary degree, these classes can be audited. Our hope and prayer is that the Institute will strengthen many local churches in Western PA and build a camaraderie of like-minded churches in this area. We also hope it will become a pipeline of leadership development that will serve the greater Pittsburgh region for many years to come. Please pray with us to that end.
The first class will be offered this coming spring. Instructor Dr. Donald S. Whitney of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will be the primary instructor for a class on "Ministry of Worship." See all the details at the BIP website.

Most of you know that the parable of the Prodigal Son is a beautiful picture of how a sinner is reconciled to a loving God through Christ. In the parable, two brothers reject their father in different ways. The younger brother goes the way of irreligion, which is rejecting or ignoring God and living anyway one wants. The elder brother goes the way of moralism, which is to obey the rules or law to be accepted by God. The errors of moralism and irreligion are enemies of the gospel, because they keep people from truly embracing the work, death, and resurrection of Christ.

There was a recent article in Christianity Today that dealt with the need for churches to be educating its members in clear Biblical doctrine and instruction due to surveys that indicate a lack of Biblical literacy. One of the ways this can be done is by starting to teach doctrine to kids even at a young age. One method to use is catechism and our 4yr old- 3rd grade class is currently going through a catechism together. For any of the parents with children in that class, you can follow along with what they are learning, to help reinforce it, HERE. The 4th-6th grade class has recently begun to put their material online as well in case anyone misses a week or if you need to find out what the Scripture memory verse is for the previous week. Make sure to check out these resources and you might just learn a few things, along the way, yourself!
The purpose of our church blog is to serve the overall mission of our church: to delight in the beauty of God's greatness,
