What We Believe

As a church rooted in biblical truth

At Three Rivers Grace Church, our mission is shaped by three key commitments:

Our Mission

  • Worship: Delighting in the beauty of God’s greatness

  • Word: Proclaiming the truth of God’s Word

  • Witness: Igniting a joyful passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ among all the peoples of Pittsburgh and the world

At Three Rivers Grace Church, everything we do flows from who God is and what He has done for us in the Gospel. These values shape our life together as a church and guide our mission in the world.

  • The Gospel: We treasure the good news of Jesus above every other message the world offers. The Gospel isn’t just how someone becomes a Christian—it’s the foundation for the entire Christian life. It redeems us, renews us, and shapes every step of our walk with God.

  • God-centeredness: We believe that life is meant to be centered on God, not ourselves. As we grow in love for Him, we learn to trust His care, His sovereignty, and His presence in every part of our lives.

  • Scripture: We hold the Bible as our ultimate authority and guide. All our teaching, ministry, and service are built on the truth of God’s Word.

  • Plurality in Leadership: We value shared wisdom and accountability in leadership. That’s why we follow a model of church leadership led by a team of elders working together to shepherd the church.

  • Unity: We pursue unity in the Gospel—both within our church and with other Gospel-preaching churches locally and globally. We also celebrate the beauty of diversity within the body of Christ: people from different backgrounds, united around the same Savior.

  • Family: We honor the God-given roles of men, women, and children, and we see “family” as both a gift and a picture of our life together in Christ. As God’s adopted children, we are called to love one another deeply and live as a spiritual family.

  • Accountability: We believe church membership matters. As members, we commit to walk together in discipleship, care, and encouragement—helping one another grow in Christ.

  • Community: We’re called to love and serve—not just within the church, but in the neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces where God has placed us. We want to be a faithful Gospel presence in both word and deed.

  • Gathering + Going: Each week, we gather to refocus our hearts on God and the Gospel. Then we go—sent out into the world to share the hope of Christ with those around us.

Our Core Values

The Statement of Faith of this church comprises two forms: a shorter form, as a concise aid to teaching and understanding, and a longer form, as a detailed statement of the doctrines of the faith.

The shorter form of the Statement of Faith is a modified version of the Abstract of Principles. The Abstract of Principles was set forth in the original charter of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at its founding in 1858. Revisions have been made by Three Rivers Grace Church to Article XVII.

The longer form of the Statement of Faith is a modified version of the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689. Revisions have been made by Three Rivers Grace Church to Chapter 22 and Chapter 26.
